Dad

A force to be Reckoned with.

Respect is the first thing Dad taught me.

The Second, Meal-time Punctuality.

Dad controlled the remote for the TV.

Top of the Pops, Banned, Totally!

We watched the 6 o’clock followed By the

10 o’clock News on the BBC.

This led to asking Dad, the confused, Teenage Me,

“Dad, please explain the 1980s British and World Politics!”

Nuclear War? Riots? CND?

Thatcher and Stonehenge, Hippies in a ditch?

We debated, discussed and always, finally,

Dad taught me ,

Its OK to agree, to Disagree!

Dad taught me to follow the Sun.

it’s good to stop. Read a book in the Sun.

A Bar-B-Q is best done under the sun,

Beer in hand, Surrounded by Family Fun.

Dad taught me about Love.

All Kinds of love.

Love the tiny garden birds.

Love, Evil Cats!

Love Slapstick Humour, Pickled Eggs, Kitchens Smelling of Spice.

Love all Spice, Old Spice,

Big Bands, Westerns, Jazz and Musicality.

Love the Ocean.

Love the excitement,

When he returned Home a Fisherman,

Woolly-White-Socked, Big-Booted,

Filleting Huge Fish Still Wet From the Sea.

To lose yourself in Music, A very Special Ability,

Is a Most Treasured Gift Dad Gave to me,

Often helped by a good Brandy!

Dance from the Inside and Keep some Sanity.

Most of All

Deep Love for Mum,

Is What Dad, Showed me.

His Final Wish,

Hold Strong the Love, Between All Our Family.

Brian Ernest John Hill.

Be in Peace, Be Still.

                              With Love Dad,

                              Jak Hill
